BARTH, JACOB

(1831-1941)

   German Semitic linguist. He was born in Flehingen, Baden. He taught Hebrew, biblical exegesis, and Jewish philosophy at the Orthodox Rabbinic Seminary in Berlin. From 1847 he also lectured on Semitic philology at the University of Berlin. He published studies on Semitic linguistics and edited grammatical, poetic and historical texts.
