BREUER, JOSEPH

(1842-1925)

   Austrian physician. Born in Vienna, he studied medicine in Vienna and later taught at the University of Vienna. In addition to his clinical work, he was involved in neurological, respiratory and otic research. His most important case was that of Anno O. Under his influence, Sigmund Freud developed his theory of psycho-analysis.
