ARISTOBULUS I

(fl. 2nd cent BCE)

   King of Judah (104-103 BCE). Under the will of his father, John Hyrcanus I, he was to become high priest while his mother was to receive the throne. He put her in prison where she died, and also imprisoned all his brothers except Antigonus; he later put him to death for treachery.
