Anat: übersetzung

Anat,
 
altsyrisch-westsemitische Göttin; in der ugaritischen Mythologie erschien Anat, die Göttin der Fruchtbarkeit, als eine ekstatische Liebes- und Kriegsgöttin. Sie galt als Tochter des Himmelsgottes El sowie als Schwester und auch Geliebte des Baal, in dessen Mythenzyklus sie eine bedeutende Rolle spielt. - Wohl mit den Hyksos gelangte ihr Kult in der ersten Hälfte des 2. Jahrtausends v. Chr. nach Ägypten. Im A.T. finden sich noch verschiedentlich Anklänge an Anat. In späterer Zeit verband sich ihr Bild mit dem der Aschirat und Astarte. Auf einer Elfenbeinplatte aus Ugarit ist sie mit einem doppelten Paar Flügel, mit Hathorlocken und zwei Hörnern dargestellt.

Anat: translation

   Canaanite goddess of war. Her worship was adopted in Egypt during the Ramesside Period, and Ramesses II gave his eldest daughter, Bintanat, her name. The Egyptians considered Anat one of the wives of Seth, along with Astarte.
