   A French trade union that was founded in 1948 as an offshoot of the Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) in opposition to French Communist dominance of that organization. Today, the FO is the third-largest union in France behind the Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (CFDT) and the CGT.
