FISHMAN, JACOB
(1878-1946)
American Yiddish editor and Zionist leader of Polish origin. After he emigrated to the US he was active in Zionist societies that pre-dated those founded under the influence of Theodor Herzl. He was a founder of the Zionist Organization of America. He co-edited the New York Yiddish dailies Tageblat (1893-1914) and Varhayt (1914-16). Later he served as managing editor of the Jewish Morning Journal.
