Cyclic undecapeptide isolated from Tolypocladium inflatum, that has potent immunosuppressant activity on both humoral and cellular systems. The use of cyclosporin has made transplant surgery much easier, although the long-term consequences of suppressing immune function are not yet clear. Used widely as an an anti-rejection drug in transplant surgery. See also cyclophilin.
