Blịss

[nach Charles Bliss, * 1897, ✝ 1985] das, -, Symbolsprache für nicht sprechende körperbehinderte und mehrfachbehinderte Menschen mit Sprachverständnis. Fehlende Artikulation und gestörte Bewegungsabläufe machen das Lesenlernen oft unmöglich. C. Bliss entwickelte nach längerem Chinaaufenthalt und inspiriert von der chinesischen Schrift 1949 in Australien eine Bildersprache aus aufeinander aufbauenden grafischen Symbolen, die von den Behinderten je nach Leistungsstand in unterschiedliche Anzahl (und Größe) auf Symboltafeln gezeigt werden können. Seit 1972 sind rd. 1 400 Symbole entwickelt; sie können zu Sätzen zusammengestellt werden und ermöglichen den Behinderten eigenständige Mitteilungen an ihre Gesprächspartner in Schule und Umwelt. - Schreibgeräte und Sprechhilfen auf Computerbasis mit Blisssymbolen sind bereits entwickelt.
