HOREBELISHA, LESLIE

(1898-1957)

   British politican. Of Spanish origin, he studied at Oxford and at the Sorbonne and Heidelburg. During World War I he served in the army in France and Greece. Later he was called to the bar and was elected to the House of Commons in 1923. He served as minister of transport from 1934. In 1937 he became minister of war. He was made a peer in 1954.
