ASHER BEN JEHIEL (ROSH)

(1250-1327)

   German talmudist. He was a pupil of Meir of Rothenberg and became the spiritual leader of German Jewry. In 1303 he settled in Toledo. His responsa reflect the cultural life of Spanish and German Jews. In Piske ha-Rosh he recorded the decisions of earlier codifiers and commentators.
