(1915-1984)

   professional wrestler who began a second career as a film star in 1958. Over the next 25 years, El Santo made more than 50 features and became a cult figure in Mexico and abroad. He was also featured in a series of comic books which ran from the early 1950s until the 1980s. After retiring from the ring in 1983, El Santo stayed active as a stage performer, which is what he was doing when he was stricken with a fatal heart attack in February 1984. One of his sons, El Hijo del Santo (Jorge Guzmán), is also a professional wrestler and has made a few movies as well.
