EBBA
Ebba: translation
Ebba f
1 German; probably from the various compound Germanic female names containing the first element eber wild boar, as for example Ebergard and Eberhild.
2 English: 19th-century revival of an Old English female name, a contracted form of Eadburga, composed of the elements ēad prosperity, riches, fortune + burg fortress. St Ebba the Elder (d. c.638) was a sister of Oswald, King of Northumbria, who founded a Benedictine abbey at Coldingham in Berwickshire; St Ebba the Younger (d. c.870) was abbess there and was murdered by marauding Danes.
