ELLE MAGAZINE

   Established in 1945, it was founded by Pierre Lazareff and Hélène Gordon, his spouse. This French magazine began an American edition in 1983. Later purchased by the La-gardére Group of France, it is published in the United States by Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. Published monthly, Elle developed a niche market as a fashion magazine for people, not industry. It hosts the annual style awards ceremony and publishes the winners as a feature article.
