ACRA, REEM

   Born in the United States of Lebanese decent, Acra is a name designer in the American bridal industry. She began as a textile designer, embroidery designer, and glove maker before turning to bridal accessories. Presently, the designer includes accessories such as veils, beaded jackets, and shawls. She is known for her ability to blend vintage and modern trends and create separates in a market that is traditionally driven by single items. She is inspired by handmade accents and embellishments. Acra moved to New York in 1995 to begin her bridal line. She presented her first collection of eveningwear in 2000. In 2003, she opened her first retail establishment in New York. A member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Acra graduated from American University in Beirut in 1982 and also attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York.
