   The roots of this prestigious jewelry firm and retailer began in Greece in the early 1800s. Sometime during the 1880s, the family settled in Naples and soon moved to Rome. In 1894, the flagship store of this ancient Greek silversmith opened at \#28 Via Condotti in Rome. The high-end company catered to the tastes of the world's jetsetters and offered unique jewelry designs touching on Greek and Roman art. Today, Bulgari is a luxury brand for not only jewelry but also watches, handbags, fragrances, and accessories. In the 1970s, Bulgari opened locations in New York City, Paris, and Geneva and today has more than 200 locations worldwide, including its own resort hotels. In 2007, Bulgari plans to open its biggest store in the heart of Tokyo. The Japanese market embraces the quality, tradition, and brand image Bulgari has created for its product. Known for its ability to creatively and beautifully mix colorful semiprecious stones and diamonds in jewelry to be worn every day, the Bulgari empire is directed by Paolo Bulgari, chairman, and Nicola Bulgari, vice chairman.
