Cell adhesion molecule (90-110 kD) of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed on endothelial cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, fibroblasts and myoblasts. Expression can be upregulated by inflammatory mediators (IL-1 b, IL-4, TNF a, IFN g ) and it is the ligand for the integrin VLA4.
