   1) (1564-1629)
   Swiss Hebraist. He was professor of Hebrew at the University of Basle. He edited Biblia Hebraica Rabbinica (the Hebrew Bible with rabbinic commentaries) and compiled the Bibliotheca Rabbinica (a rabbinic bibliography). He also wrote a Hebrew grammar and a Hebrew and Aramaic lexicon.
   2) (1599-1664)
   Swiss Hebraist, son of Johannes Buxtorf (i). He was professor of Hebrew and biblical exegesis at the University of Basle. He wrote studies of the Hebrew alphabet and Hebrew pronunciation, and translated Maimonides' Guide for the Perplexed and Judah ha-Levi's Kuzari into Latin.
