All companies above a certain size are required to have their financial statements audited ( i.e. checked for truth and fairness) by a registered auditor. The auditor prepares a report which is attached to the financial statements stating his opinion as to whether or not the financial statements give a true and fair view of the company's results and financial position. Auditor's Report: translation

Recorded in the annual report, the auditor's report tests to see that a corporation's financial statements comply with GAAP. This is sometimes referred to as the clean opinion.

Most auditor's reports consist of three paragraphs. The first states the responsibilities of the auditor and directors. The second is the scope, stating that GAAP was used. Finally, the third paragraph gives the auditor's opinion.
