BRADERIES

   Braderies are street sales that began in the autumn of 1922 in the Sainte-Catherine district at the initiative of the Union des Commerçants du Quartier. They became a yearly event, growing in stature, and braderies held around the city have become a part of the social and commercial fabric. Braderies also refers to annual sales among the city's retail outlets during July.
