Niemann-Pick disease: translation

Severe lysosomal storage disease caused by deficiency in sphingomyelinase; excess sphingomyelin is stored in ‘foam’ cells (macrophages) in spleen, bone-marrow and lymphoid tissue. More common in Ashkenazi Jews than other groups.
