CHAYEFSKY, PADDY

(1923-81)

   American playwright. He was born in New York. His work draws on Jewish life and tradition. His The Tenth Man is based on the legend of the dybbuk, and Gideon was inspired by the biblical account of the Hebrew judges victory over the Midianites.
