   Born Louise Emma Augusta Dahl in San Francisco, to Norwegian parents, she would become one of the foremost female photographers in the industry. She married sculptor Mike Wolfe, who would often help her with her photography. Dahl-Wolfe is best known for her use of natural light and for having worked with Diana Vreeland for more than 25 years at Harper's Bazaar and then at Vogue. She is credited with having discovered actress Lauren Bacall and for her influence on photographers Irving Penn and Richard Avedon.
