Achillas: translation

(fl. 48–49 BC)
   Military commander of Ptolemy XIII. He supported the king and his minister, Pothinus, in ousting Cleopatra VII from power. Achillas supervised the murder of Gnaeus Pompeius and besieged Caesar in Alexandria. He was murdered in 48 BC in a power struggle with the supporters of Arsinoe IV.
