CASTRO, JACOB DE

(1758-1824)

   English comedian. He was born in London. He acted in traditional Purim plays and in 1786 joined Philip Astley's troupe known as Astley's Jews'. In 1803 he was appointed manager of the Royal Theatre, London. His Memoirs casts light on English Jewish life.
