AGUILAR, GRACE

(1816-47)

   English writer. She was born in London. In 1842 she published The Spirit of Judaism: In Defence of her Faith and its Professors. Her Records of Israel: Two Tales and Women of Israel presented idealized pictures of Jewish life in Spain and women in the Bible. Her own beliefs are contained in The Jewish Faith, its Spiritual Consolation, Moral Guidance and Immortal Hope. She also published popular novels dealing with Jewish life.
