AUMONIERE

Aumoniere: translation

A pouch or purse attached to a belt and worn both by men and women. It was used to carry coins and other small objects. A woman of high status would have carried an aumener as a purse; a woman of lower status would have carried a bourse. [< OldFr. aumoner = an almoner]
