BORAISHA, MENAHEM

(1888-1949)

   American Yiddish poet of Polish origin. He emigrated to the US in 1914. His poem Polyn expresses the tense relationship between Jews and Poles. He published a number of collections, including a A ring in der keyt, Zamd,a book of lyrics, one of which is on Theodor Herd, and Zavl rimer, a rhymed chronicle exposing the horror of post-war Russian pogroms. His The Wayfarer is a spiritual autobiography.
