[briː], französische Landschaft östlich von Paris, zwischen Seine und Marne, eine meist aus Kalken aufgebaute Ebene (innerhalb der Schichtstufenlandschaft des Pariser Beckens) mit fruchtbaren Lehmböden besonders im Südwesten.Den Südwesten bildet die Brie française oder Basse Brie mit Getreide-, Zuckerrüben-, Futterpflanzenanbau, den feuchteren, gegen Épernay von großen Wäldern und vielen Teichen (Fischzucht) eingenommenen Norden und Osten die Brie champenoise oder Haute Brie mit überwiegender Grünlandwirtschaft (Milch und Käse, u. a. der Brie). Hauptorte sind Meaux, Château-Thierry und Melun.
