FEIWEL, BERTHOLD
(1875-1937)
German Zionist leader. He was born in Moravia. He was a close associate of Theodor Herzl and helped to organize the first Zionist Congress in 1897. In 1901 he became editor-in-chief of the central organ of the Zionist Organization, Die Welt. He translated Hebrew and Yiddish works into German and was a founder of the Judischer Verlag in Berlin. In 1933 he settled in Palestine.
