COSMATESQUE STYLE

найдено в "Dictionary of Renaissance art"

The Cosmatesque Style, popular in the 12th and 13th centuries, takes its name from the Cosmati, a family of craftsmen, sculptors, and architects who created mosaics with geometric designs to decorate architectural surfaces. Their work is found in Rome in the churches of Santa Maria in Ara Coeli, Santa Saba, San Tommaso in Formis, and Santa Maria Maggiore, to name a few. It can also be seen in the Sancta Sanctorum in the Church of St. John Lateran.
