ECTOPLASMIC TUBE CONTRACTION

Model for amoeboid movement in which it is proposed that protrusion of a pseudopod is brought about by contraction of the sub-plasmalemmal region everywhere else in the cell thus squeezing the central cytoplasm forwards. See frontal zone contraction theory.
