CCK: translation
(= cholecystokinin)
Polypeptide hormone (33 residues) secreted by the duodenum. Stimulates secretion of digestive enzymes by the pancreas and contraction of the gall bladder. The C-terminal octapeptide is found in some dorsal root ganglion neurons where it presumably acts as a peptide neurotransmitter.
