EVADNE
Evadne: translation
Evadne f
English: from a Greek personal name composed of the element eu well, good + another element that is of uncertain meaning. It was borne by a minor figure in classical legend who threw herself on to the funeral pyre of her husband, and was regarded as an example of wifely piety. The modern spelling and pronunciation is the result of transmission through Latin sources. The name has never been common, and is now completely out of fashion. It is associated with the character of Dr Evadne Hinge in the British comedy television series Hinge and Bracket.
