BUCAK, FAIK

(?-1966)
Bucak was a Turkish Kurdish lawyer from Urfa in Turkey who headed the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Turkey (KDPT). He was murdered in 1966 (probably by police agents), and his party split into two hostile factions. Both fled to Iraqi Kurdistan, where under circumstances that remain obscure, both of the new leaders (Dr. Shivan [Sait Kirmizitoprak] and Se-rafettin Elci) were killed and their organizations eliminated. Some say that Mulla Mustafa Barzani executed Shivan for killing Elci, while others say that it was the work of the Milli Istihbarat Teshilati (MIT), or Turkish National Intelligence Organization.
