EPSTEIN, ZALMAN

   Russian Hebrew essayist and critic. He was born in Belorussia and moved to Odessa in 1876, where he lived for 30 years. Later he lived in St Petersburg, Warsaw and Moscow; he eventually settled in Palestine in 1925. He published studies on Zionism and the settlement of Palestine as well as Hebrew and general literature. He also wrote a number of poetic sketches.
