['fæktərɪȖ; englisch, zu factor »Agent«, »Vertreter«] das, -s, einmaliger oder fortlaufender Ankauf von Forderungen aus Warenlieferungen und Dienstleistungen durch einen Factor (spezielles Finanzierungs- oder Kreditinstitut, Factoringgesellschaft) unter Übernahme bestimmter Servicefunktionen und häufig auch des Ausfallrisikos. Der Factor erwirbt in der Regel nicht Einzelforderungen, sondern den gesamten Forderungsbestand und führt das Inkasso im eigenen Namen und auf eigene Rechnung durch.Der Verkäufer der Forderung (Lieferant, Klient, Anschlusskunde) erhält den Gegenwert vor deren Fälligkeit (Liquiditätsvorteil), wobei ein prozentualer Anteil z. B. für den Fall von Mängelrügen zunächst zurückgehalten wird. Beim Inlandsfactoring beträgt die übliche Laufzeit der Forderungen bis zu 90 Tage, beim Auslandsfactoring (Export- und Importgeschäften) sind längere Laufzeiten möglich. Im Rahmen der Servicefunktionen kann dem Factor die gesamte Debitorenbuchhaltung, das Inkasso- und das Mahnwesen übertragen werden. Die anfallenden Kosten bestehen in banküblichen Sollzinsen für die Kreditierung der Forderungen, in einer Gebühr für die Übernahme von Dienstleistungen (Factoringgebühr) sowie gegebenenfalls in einer Delkredereprämie für die Übernahme des Ausfallrisikos. Die Vorteile des Verkäufers liegen v. a. in der frühzeitigen Refinanzierung, in der Vermeidung des Insolvenzrisikos seiner Kunden und in der Kosteneinsparung bei der Finanzbuchhaltung.
