   Dutch chemist who did research in Stockholm and Colorado and lectured at Oxford. Crutzen received his doctorate in meteorology at the University of Stockholm in 1973, and in 1980 became head of the Department of Atmospheric Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute in Mainz, Germany. In 1995, Crutzen won the Nobel Prize for chemistry, along with American chemists Mario J. Molina and Franck Sherwood Rowland.
