   British historian and political scientist. He was born in Krakow. He was a member of the communist party in Poland, but was expelled, and in 1939 went to London, where he was on the editorial staff of the Economist and the Observer. Later he devoted himself to historical research. He wrote political bibliographies of Stalin and Trotsky and published works on Stalin, Soviet Russia and communism. His The Non-Jewish Jew and Other Essays describes the contributions of such Jews as Spinoza, Freud, Marx and Trotsky.
