   The beautiful and temperamental actress, born in Philadelphia, was one of the favorites of the American stage in the 1860s and 1870s, but she made fewer appearances after 1880, making her final stage appearance in 1907. In 1905, she wrote a play, Golden Chains, and published a novel, It Happened This Way, as well as her memoirs, The Memories of Rose Eytinge.
