DAUD KHAN

   Daud Khan was a ruthless Iranian Kurd of humble birth who usurped the leadership of the Kalhur tribe in the Kirmanshah area about 1900. For more than a decade he played an important role until he gradually alienated so many other Kurdish tribes and the government that he lost his support. He was killed during an ill-conceived march on Tehran.
