BENTWICH, NORMAN

   English Zionist. Born in London, he practised law from 1908-12. In 1913 he became commissioner of courts in Egypt and taught at the Cairo Law School. During World War I he served in the British Army on the Palestine front. From 1920-31 he was attorney general of the Mandate government in Palestine. Later he became professor of international relations at the Hebrew University. In 1951 he retired and returned to England. He wrote studies of Zionism as well as works dealing with inter-national relations. He was also the author of a number of biographies as well as an autobiog-raphy.
