   American rabbi and philos-opher of Polish origin. He was a rabbi in Cambridge (Massachusetts), Chicago, and Dayton (Ohio). Later he was appointed professor of religion at Temple University and was a member of the faculty of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. He also served as rabbi of Beth El Synagogue in Baltimore. His writings include Modern Philosophies of Judaism, Guideposts in Modern Judaism, The Meaning of Jewish History and Dialogue and Tradition.
