Feyerabend, Paul: translation

(1924–1994)
Austrian philosopher of science. Born in Vienna, Feyerabend was educated at the university of Vienna, and became a philosopher of science under the influence of Popper . During his career he taught at a variety of universities, becoming emeritus professor at Berkeley. He was notorious for his scepticism about the rationality of science. He held that success is achieved by scientists as the consequence of politics, rhetoric, and propaganda, rather than because of their advancement of our objective knowledge of the world. Books included Against Method (1975), and Farewell to Reason (1987).
