Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Feidhelm, an ancient personal name of uncertain derivation. It may have some connection with the male name Feidhlimidh; see PHELIM (SEE Phelim). St Fidelmia was a daughter of King Laoghaire and one of St Patrick's first converts.
