DOCTOROW, EDGAR LAWRENCE

   American writer. Born in New York, he began his career as an editor, but later taught at the University of California, Sarah Lawrence College, Yale and New York University. His works include Welcome to Hard Times, Big as Life, The Book of Daniel, Loon Lake, World's Fair and Billy Bathgate.
