   Actor, director, and film critic. Jacques Doniol-Valcroze was the cofounder, with André Bazin, of the Cahiers du Cinéma, a journal for which he also wrote criticism. He also worked as editor for Cinémonde and La Revue du Cinéma. Apart from his role as critic, he also acted and directed. Films in which he appeared include Alain Robbe-Grillet's L'immortelle (1963) and Le jeu avec le feu (1975), Alain Resnais's Je t'aime, je t'aime (1968), Claude Lelouch's Le voyou (1970), Jean-Daniel Pollet's L'amour c'est gai, l'amour c'est triste (1971), and Michel Deville's L'apprenti salaud (1977). He directed L'eau à la bouche (1960), Le coeur battant (1962), La dénonciation (1962), Le viol (1967), La maison des Boiries (1970), L'homme au cerveau greffé (1972), and Une femme fatale (1977).
