AMMISTAMRU I
(fl. 1360–1340 BC)
Ruler of Ugarit. He was a correspondent in the Amarna letters. As a vassal ruler, he wrote to declare his loyalty to Egypt. His son and succesor, Niqmaddu, challenged his allegiance and acknowledged Hittite king Suppiluliuma I as his overlord.
