CERF, BENNET

(1898-1971)

   American publisher. He began his career as a writer for the New York Tribune. Several years later he helped found Random House. He edited a number of anthologies including Great German Short Novels and Stories, Bedside Book of Famous British Stories and Encyclopedia of Modern American Humour.
