ESPLEES
Esplees: translation
What could be obtained from land, i.e. its crop, rents and services, or the 'issues of the land'. *Bracton said that 'the taking of esplees [added] nothing to *seisin' except where they made the seisin 'clearer' or 'evident'. He adds, 'the seisin of the proprietas [ownership] ought not to be so momentary that esplees are not taken'. In the case of vacant seisin the esplees were not taken.
