DARMESTETER, JAMES

(1849-94)

   French orientalist, brother of Arsene Darmesteter. He was born at Chateau-Salins. He became professor at the College de France. He translated the sacred books of the Zoroastrian religion into French and English and published material concerning the relationship between Zoroastrianism and Judaism.
